Well the more of us who say we want it, we might be able to get them off their butts to make one happen :)

Failing that, I hold regular lan's - but it would be a lot more fun with a huge group of ppl there :)

i'll be suprised if there is a february lan. i think gameserve had it's days. as much as i'd like to see it back have to take into account the lacking of numbers and the fact that they need money to replace the 3 phase that died. i remember the days ages ago when i had some awesome times back @ the robina community centre. if only it was still then

good luck if it comes back. with the lack of admin posts on this site whenever i lurk over here i'd say chance of a feb lan are slim.

There phase 3? Sorry while a mate of mine is an avid GameServe lan'ner this would have been my first....

If they are needing bits and bobs, i am sure I would be happy to help out to get things back on board (Yes admin if you read this, come see me, we can discuss what is needed etc)

Come on guys! Lets stop saying "it wont happen" and lets start saying "LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!" :)

    Re: Jan/Feb Lan

At the moment I have 2x24 port piggyback-able 10/100 hubs, but I am looking at upgrading and purchasing @ least 1 (probably 2) gigabit switches (24 port each)...

I think that we should try and resurrect gameserve - what do you say every1??

Come on Admin! Get in on this, we can make this work - we are all willing, able and prepared to pitch in to make this lil bad boy work!

It's not the network that has issues, it's the power supply for us. I think. I'm sure the 3 phase is the massive power supply.

    Re: Jan/Feb Lan

I didnt even think of that! haha

It would seem logical, that a building the size of GCI could handle upwards of 200+ pc's running they have some serious power pipes... If they were organised to pay a lil more per head (maybe $40 for the w/end per person - $25 for 1 day) to LAN.. that should cover their costs.... I dont know

Failing that, what about hiring out a hall somewhere, with plenty of power to run all the pc's that would work :)

    I might start investigating

if anybody is wanting to help me with this, pm me and ill send you my msn and we can work it out :)

i dont think any 'small' halls will have the power systems required to run all the pc's..
just wondering, how much would a '3 phase' cost?

    Re: Jan/Feb Lan

I think that the 3 phase while it would be good for 200+, for even up to 50 or 60 computers, you would
not need anywhere near that amount of power.... A small/medium hall with trestle tables would suffice
more than adequately, as long as we could use their power...

I might do a lil investigating....

I tried looking up prices for these sorts of power supplys, but I am wondering what exactly would be
needed? 3 phase power is just a method of delivering power. chances are the hotel already would have
something similar (any place that needs that much power such as a hotel or whatever, would need that
    already eh???)

    Thoughts people :)
