Here's the official press-release...

CBN Media, Australia's consumer IT and interactive entertainment agency, has been signed as the Australian Strategic Partner of the World Cyber Games. Globally sponsored by Samsung Electronics and Microsoft, this rapidly growing tournament sees nearly one million players from around 70 countries worldwide compete for the title of world gaming champion.

A Team of Australian Finalists will take on gamers from all over the world, such as China, Germany, France, Mexico, Korea, Japan and Russia, in the PC games, Counter Strike 1.6 and WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne, and the console game, Dead or Alive:4.

National Finalists will be determined by the state based Qualifiers (NSW, VIC, SA, WA, and QLD), culminating in a National Final event in Sydney in late August. Winners of the National Final in Australia will be flown to the Grand Final in Seattle, USA to participate in the world's most prestigious e-Sports competition. The Grand Final will be held on October 3rd to 7th, 2007 at Qwest Field.

"Samsung is proud to be the Global sponsor of an event that continues to set the standard in global game competitions and we're looking forward to working with CBN Media on an Australian Final that is destined to be the best yet." – Kurt Jovais, General Manager Corporate Marketing, Samsung Electronics Australia.
